Dr. Robert Hare - Academics

Dr. Hare is most famous for his Psychopathy Checklist-Revised (PCL-R). This measurement is used to rate an individual’s psychopathic tendencies. It consists of 20 items and compares the subject’s degree of psychopathy with that of a typical psychopath. It measures such things as lack of empathy, conscience or guilt, egocentrism, shallow emotions, and pathological lying. The PCL-R is now the international standard for assessing psychopathic tendencies.

“Some psychopathic traits might be useful, such as lack of empathy and all that, that would be kind of good, but not normal. People try to divorce themselves from long term suffering in the family.”
