Dr. Ian Whishaw - Later Academics

In 1980, Whishaw co-authored The Fundamentals of Human Neuropsychology with colleague Bryan Kolb. This book was said to define the at the time disorganized field of neuropsychology. "Given our age [they were 33 and 41] and background when we wrote the book, it was an audacious achievement," says Dr. Whishaw.
Dr. Whishaw's "Vanderwolfian" strategy of recording overt behaviour would change the field he defined: "Detailed behavioral analysis was not seen as important when I started publishing but is now recognized to be essential in behavioral research." Dr. Whishaw, along with Dr. Kolb whom he works very closely with, "were socially and professionally active in psychology and after awhile came to be seen as leaders in behavioral research.
