Dr. Bryan Kolb - Early Academics

Kolb reflects on the demanding nature of a successful academic career: "My life has changed dramatically in the last decade. I spend way too much time doing administrative things. I am heavily involved in the Canadian Stroke Network and this has been very time consuming, although rewarding. I have research grants to look at how the brain changes in response to experience, how drugs change the brain, the nature of critical periods in stimulating recovery from early brain injury, and the treatment of stroke."

One of Dr. Kolb's goals for the future is to downsize his active laboratory and focus more on research. This is not surprising, as Dr. Kolb is known for his people skills and preference for smaller, more personal academic settings.
