Seniors Helping Advance Research Excellence

Questions and answers about how you can help contribute to the advancement of knowledge and education for the future...

WHAT IS SHARE?
The name SHARE stands for Seniors Helping Advance Research Excellence. SHARE is a volunteer group coordinated by Dr. Sheree Kwong See in the Department of Psychology at the University of Alberta.

WHAT DO SHARE MEMBERS DO AND WHERE?
SHARE members participate in a variety of research projects at the University of Alberta. Sometimes members complete questionnaires in their own homes.

WHO CAN BE A MEMBER OF SHARE?
Anyone over the age of 60 can be a member of SHARE.

WHAT DOES IT COST TO BE A SHARE MEMBER?
Nothing. When SHARE members volunteer at the University, they receive reimbursement for travel expenses. When a questionnaire is sent to their home, they receive a stamped, self-addressed envelope within which to return the questionnaire.

HOW OFTEN DO I HAVE TO PARTICIPATE?
That depends on the availability of projects but most importantly on you and your choices. Participation in every study is voluntary so you do not have to participate in specific projects which do not appeal to you.

WHAT DO YOU DO WITH THE INFORMATION I PROVIDE?
All information is used for research purposes only and kept strictly confidential.
