| 1. Can PSYCO 299 be taken more than once? |
| Yes, you may take PSYCO 299 twice. You may wish to apply for two different projects, in two different terms. You may also be able to continue working in a faculty member's lab on the same project for an additional term, subject to the recommendation of the sponsoring faculty member. This would necessitate registering in a second PSYCO 299. |

| 2. Does PSYCO 299 count for degree credit? |
| Normally, a single term of PSYCO 299 (1.5 units of course weight) would count extra to your degree. If you take PSYCO 299 twice (for a total of 3.0 units of course weight) you can count the courses towards a Psychology major or minor or as an option in Honors or Specialization programs in the Department of Psychology. |

| 3. Can I apply for more than one project? |
| Yes, you may apply for up to 5 projects offered in a semester. Applying for more than one position increases your chance of being accepted for one of the positions. Assignments will be made based on trying to find a match between your choices and the faculty member’s choices of whom they'd like to have in their lab. |

| 4. Does it help to get my application in right away before the March 15th or October 15th deadline? |
| No, project applications will be sent to instructors all at once. |

| 5. How can I increase my chances of getting a PSYCO 299 research position? |
| Ensure that your application is complete. Carefully fill out your application ensuring that all information is accurate. Attach a complete resume. Include a letter of reference from a person who will comment in a detailed way on your skills and interest in the position. |

| 6. Can I have a supervisor who is not in Psychology? |
| Only if that person has an adjunct appointment in Psychology. All Psychology 299 projects must be offered by faculty members in the Department of Psychology. As well, there may not be co–supervisors in other departments. |

| 7. How much is expected of me in PSYCO 299? |
| You should expect to work 3–4 hours a week on your project. As is the case with most research, there may be some weeks that require more hours while others will require less. You may be asked to do background reading for their projects in addition to the actual research time in lab. You may also be expected to meet with the PSYCO 299 Program Advisor and other PSYCO 299 students to discuss certain aspects of research and to participate in a seminar with faculty members in Psychology. |

| 8. How can I measure my progress in PSYCO 299? |
| You should meet at least weekly with the faculty member sponsoring the project. As well, your sponsor will provide you with a written assessment of yourprogress by November 10th (Fall term) or March 18 (Winter term) and discuss this assessment with you before the deadline for dropping courses. |

| 9. When will I be notified if I have been successful in getting a PSYCO 299 position? |
| You will be notified by the Associate Chair, Undergraduate in the Department of Psychology via e-mail by April 15th (Fall term) or December 15th (Winter term) at the latest. Prior to this, you may be contacted by the sponsoring faculty member for an interview (in person or by a phone call). The final decision for acceptance rests with the faculty member. |
