Patrick became addicted to morphine when he was recovering from severe injuries he sustained while snow boarding.  He successfully completed a withdrawal program but eventually dropped out of the Narcotics Anonymous program.  He's smoked weed and drunk a bit at parties with no ill effects.  At a party a couple of months ago, Patrick did a little cocaine.  Boom, he was addicted.  As Patrick's drug counselor, explain how opiates and cocaine are similar as well as different  in their effects.  Prepare Patrick for the withdrawal symptoms he is likely to experience. Discussion
