Dr. Melvyn Goodale - Academics

Following his PhD, Dr. Goodale returned to the U.K. for work at Oxford University and later at St Andrews in Scotland. Eight years later, however, he returned to the University of Western Ontario, where he remains. Dr. Goodale considers teaching courses to be an excellent education. He says, “When you teach something you have to learn it well.” He credits a course he taught early in his career about cross-species psychology, learning, and behaviour. For him it was a marriage of evolutionary biology and brain and behaviour, which characterized much of his more recent work.
