Dr. Wilder Penfield - Personally
Dr. Penfield, though not trained in the field of psychology, gave neuropsychology its start. Great Canadian Psychologists Donald Hebb, Brenda Milner, Ronald Melzack and Bryan Kolb were heavily influenced by Dr. Penfield's ideas. Owing to Dr. Penfield's "tenacity of purpose", the field of neuropsychology has uncovered significant secrets to what he once called the "undiscovered country", the human brain.
Toward the end of his life, Dr. Penfield wrote Mystery of Mind, a summation of his views on the brain vs. the mind and No Man Alone, an autobiography. Today, he is still cherished as the founder of the Montreal Neurological Institute, which has helped countless people and endowed Montreal with its reputation for cutting edge psychology.
