Dr. Donald Meichenbaum - Early Academics

Donald received his undergraduate degree in psychology from City College of New York, then moved to Illinois to pursue graduate studies at the University of Illinois. Originally, Donald thought he would become an industrial psychologist, but took a research assistantship at a local psychiatric hospital. Fascinated by the patients, Donald decided to study clinical psychology instead.

Medical school, however, was not what Gus expected. He had trouble deriving meaning from his anatomy classes: "I found it tiresome and onerous to learn catalogs such as the 47 anterior relations of the kidney" and "rather disliked the company of sick people". Neurology, however, piqued his interest and inspired Gus to cut his losses at medical school, and learn about psychology instead.
