Dr. Donald Meichenbaum - Academics
The University of Waterloo offered Dr. Meichenbaum a position in 1966. "Waterloo was a new university and it had much promise." Dr. Meichenbaum was also excited to work with Richard Walters, a brilliant psychologist at Waterloo, who unfortunately died soon after Dr. Meichenbaum arrived. However, "Waterloo turned out to be a wonderful setting, and I have stayed for 33 years until I took retirement [in 1998]."
Dr. Meichenbaum continued to study the effect of self-directed speech, knowing it could be useful in a clinical setting.
