Dr. Endul Tulving - Early Academics

In high school, Endel found his courses still to be unfulfilling and uninteresting. His view on traditional science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) was that everything interesting had been discovered. Instead, he spent his time thinking about the beginning of time, and what lies beyond the universe.

While World War II was ending, 17-year-old Endel was sent to Germany to finish his schooling, where he decided his interest in behaviour and the mind would make him a good psychologist. After high school graduation, Endel had many jobs: he translated for the American army, taught German to war orphans, and tried out medical school. In 1949, Endel traveled to Canada where he attended the University of Toronto as an undergraduate psychology student.
