Major Oral (20%)22 Oct. - 26 Nov.
Review Paper (25%)28 Nov.

Final Exam (20%)TBA

For minor oral presentations students will select and review a journal article cited in the chapter assigned for the week they are presenting. For the review paper students must pick a topic related to the course content and conduct a review of the scientific literature on this topic. The major oral presentation will be on the same topic as the paper. As the class size is small, students are expected, and required, to take part in class discussion (note: simply attending class does not count as participation). The final exam questions will be "essay-style"; the exam will be open book. If you miss the final exam you must contact your faculty office to receive approval to write a deferred final exam. If permission is granted, you will write the exam 17 January at 2PM (go to room BSP-241). Missed presentations will be made up at the instructor's discretion. The paper must be turned in to the instructor in class on 28 November; for every day the paper is late a 10% penalty will be applied.
