I am always seeking highly motivated undergraduate students, graduate students and post doctoral fellows who are interested in vision, neuroscience, electrophysiology, neuroanatomy, comparative cognition and behaviour There are opportunities in my lab to conduct a variety of research projects (i.e., summer research students, PSYCHO 496, honours projects, M.Sc. and Ph.D. theses). If interested, please contact Doug Wylie directly via e-mail, phone, or in person.
Funding Opportunities: There are several sources of funding for which students and post docs may apply; what follows is a summary of some of the main sources of funding, along with links to the appropriate pages of funding agencies' web sites. Undergraduates: Summer students can apply for an Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) undergraduate student research award (USRA) or an Alberta Heritage Foundation for Medical Reseach (AHFMR) Summer Studentship. Graduate Students: Students can apply through the Department of Psychology or the Center for Neuroscience. Funding is available through my CIHR grant but students are expected to be competitive for NSERC post-graduate scholarships (PGS M and PGS D). Graduate students may also apply for Alberta Ingenuity Studentships. Postdoctoral fellows: Fellows may apply for a postdoctoral fellowship from NSERC or AHFMR. Postdoctoral fellows can also apply for either a Notely or Killam postdoctoral fellowship through the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research at the University of Alberta. |
