Navigation should offer clear labels

Good navigation labels are important for communicating navigational information

When labeling navigation devices it is best to use the terminology of the site's users. Tricky word play or metaphores might impress those who are "in the know", but generally will just confuse everyone else

For example, is it obvious what the labels "home" and "top" mean? How about "help" and "FAQ"?

Precise, descriptive labels make navigation easier

Navigational icons often have no labels at all. When using icons, ensure that their function is obvious to all users. A key listing what the icons represent may be useful.
