Navigation should support users' goals
Different sites are aimed at different audiences
A web site devoted to on-line shopping (e.g., Amazon.com) will have different users than a web site for on-line teaching (e.g., DigitalThink)
Know the site's user base and plan accordingly
Whenever constructing a site, test it out on a variety of people. Get feedback from users and modify site architecture when necessary.
