verifying information
Before you accept anything you read as accurate, reliable, or valid, you should always do a bit more background reading and research. If you can find other credible sources that back-up the information in some resource that you have found, you can be more confident that the information is accurate.
You can find more research on auditory distractedness by conducting a database search (try PsycINFO) and reading through selected reports of empirical research. The University of Alberta Libraries System has a huge number of psychology journal holdings; some journals are only available only in print, and others are also available online. Check back to Module 2 (Information Seeking Strategies) for a quick refresher on searching through the library database.
