the library catalogue
A library catalogue contains records for all material that is held in the library, and represents a total inventory for resources owned by the library. Having said that, the library catalogue indexes a very broad range of resources, including books, print journals, videos, sound recordings, theses, maps, reports, conference proceedings, newspapers (usually on microform), and various reference works such as dictionaries, thesauruses, encyclopaedias, and almanacs.
The University of Alberta Library belongs to a network of libraries and the NEOS catalogue to share print and electronic resources.
The NEOS catalogue indexes a very broad range of resources, including books, videos, audio files, maps, government documents, class reserve material, etc., and allows you to conduct several kinds of searches. You can search using the typical keyword method, by author, title, series, periodical title, or subject. Also available to you in a catalogue search are searching limits that allow you to restrict your search results to include only those that have been published in a certain year, are published in a specific format, or even written in a particular language.
