authorship and web resources

Identifying the credibility of the author or host of a web resource is often much more difficult. If available, you can usually find the author(s) near the bottom of the page or article, or contained in an "About Us" section. However, even if a name is provided, you can't always guarantee that the author's identity or credentials are actually true. Many people on the internet write under aliases, making it nearly impossible to check up on their credentials. If it is impossible to identify the author, you should consider the reputation of the organization associated with the site. If you are still having difficulty at this point, then it may be advisable to check a resource's URL (uniform resource locator) to look for other clues that offer some insight into a resource's credibility.
