punctuation

Punctuation is used to designate the different parts of a reference.

  • Periods are used between components of the reference:
    (ie) AUTHOR(S). (DATE). TITLE. PUBLICATION INFORMATION.
     
  • Commas are used WITHIN a component :
    (ie) AUTHOR, AUTHOR, & AUTHOR.
    (ie) JOURNAL TITLE, ISSUE NUMBER, PAGE NUMBERS.
     
  • Dates and page numbers for chapters are in parentheses ( ):
    (ie) (DATE)
    (ie) BOOK TITLE (pp. page numbers).
